The Master of Business Administration in Business Analytics (MBA-BA) is a distinctive program that provides students with sophisticated competencies in business analytics, data-informed decision-making, and strategic management. The first year of the program will take place at the state-of-the-art IIM Sambalpur New Delhi Campus (IIM-SBP-ND), while the subsequent year will also be held at the same campus, with an option for students to pursue a Dual-Degree Program at the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) in Thailand. Students shortlisted for the Dual Degree Program are selected on a merit basis, according to eligibility criteria jointly determined by IIM Sambalpur and the Asian Institute of Technology.

The program provides numerous benefits to candidates interested in pursuing a dual degree MBA-BA. By combining the academic expertise and global exposure of both institutions (IIM-SBP-ND and AIT), students gain a dual degree, international experience, and insights into diverse business environments. The program is designed to prepare future-ready professionals capable of addressing complex challenges in the dynamic world of business analytics. After the completion of their second year at Thailand, all candidates shall be provided with a 1-year extended work-visa in Thailand through which they can find the opportunity to kick start their international professional career.

Program Structure

  1. The first year of the IIM SBP Master’s program requires 60 credits of coursework. The inaugural academic year commences in July and is divided into three trimesters, each lasting approximately 14 weeks, inclusive of a break.
  2. The second year of the IIM Sambalpur and AIT Master’s program requires a minimum credit of 48 to full-fil the requirements of 108 credits of IIM SBP credit to award the dual-degree. The second academic year commences in June and is divided into 3 Term.

Program Eligibility Requirements:

IIM SBP Admission Requirements:

The admission process is detailed in the MBA-BA Admission Policy given hereby.

  • Applicants must possess a bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution as per UGC/AICTE norms. Work Experience: A minimum of 1 year of post qualification professional experience as of the date of beginning of program. Internships, Apprenticeship etc. shall not count towards computing of the same.
  • Applicants should demonstrate strong academic skills, particularly in quantitative areas like mathematics, statistics, or economics. A solid grasp of business fundamentals is also beneficial.
  • Proficiency in the language of instruction, usually English, may be required, particularly for international applicants. Evidence of language proficiency can be shown through previous qualifications or the medium of instruction.
  • All admissions to the program shall be on the basis of a valid CAT score, the minimum/cut-off criteria of which shall be released accordingly by the competent authority on the Institute Website.

AIT admission requirements:

  • Recommendation from IIM.
  • Master’s Transcript in IIM of the first year
  • Applicants must hold a Bachelor’s degree or its equivalent from a recognized university and demonstrate a strong academic record. Candidates with marginal academic performance may still be considered if they can provide evidence of relevant professional experience or other compensating achievements. For admission to AIT, applicants must meet the English language requirement of a minimum IELTS score of 6.0. Those with lower scores may be admitted on the condition that they successfully complete the Intensive English Bridging Program at the AIT Language Center, along with additional English instruction during their first year. To be eligible for transfer to AIT Bangkok in the second year, first years students at IIM-SBP must achieve a minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 2.75 on a 4.0 scale or 6.8 on a scale of 10 (or its equivalent) in their coursework.

Note: AIT Entrance English requirement is 6.0. Conditional offers will be given to those with 5.0 and 5.5 on the condition that students attend and successfully complete compulsory English classes before enrolling for thesis credits. Only IELTS and TOEFL scores that are not older than 2 years prior to joining AIT are acceptable.
