Prof. (Dr.) Hemachandra Padhan completed his PhD and Post-Doc Equivalent Fellowship (PDEF) from Department of Humanities and Social Sciences, IIT Madras. MA in Applied Economics and PG Diploma in Statistics and Research Methodology from Pondicherry Central University, Pondicherry. He was awarded as Post-Graduate Merit Fellowship for University Rank Holder (2014-2016); National Fellowship for OBC (2018) and CBSE-UGC NET. Before joining IIM Sambalpur, he has been associated with Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Mumbai and Symbiosis School of Economics (SSE) Pune as an Assistant Professor in Economics. His research interest is in the areas of Energy Economics, Finance & Strategy, Environmental Sustainability, Macroeconomics and Applied Econometrics. His work has appeared in top-tier journals including Energy Economics, Energy Policy, Resources Policy, Renewable Energy, Frontier in Energy Research, Environmental Science and Pollution Research, Energy and Environment, Environment, Development & Sustainability, International Review of Economics and Journal of Public Affairs. He has reviewed papers for Journal of International Economics, Economic Modeling, Technology Forecasting and Social Change, Journal of Cleaner Production, Resources Policy, Journal of Public Affairs, etc. One of our paper got awarded as SPRINGER AWARD in Resilience and Sustainability Summit: Vision 2047 (RESSUMMIT2047) organized by Ministry of Home Affairs and National Institute of Disaster Management (NIDM), New Delhi.

For this paper, I received a cash money of 40,000 JPY for a policy-driven paper with Economic class travelling with accommodation.
3. Received a Project from ICSSR, with Prof. Sujit Kumar Pruseth (Faculty in Public Policy, IIM Sambalpur) that costs 70,00,000 (70 Lakhs). The project entitled " A Critical Study of Folk Tradition, Cultural Heritage, Cultural History & Unknown Aspects of Armed and Non-Violent Freedom Struggle in Western Parts of Odisha"
