Information Under Section 4 of the RTI Act, 2005

How to Access Information

A person seeking information may submit an application in writing or by e-mail, clearly specifying the particulars of the information sought.

The application, along with the requisite fee, may be submitted to:

For applications submitted by e-mail, the prescribed fee should be deposited within seven days. Non-receipt of the requisite fee shall imply withdrawal of the request.


Payment of Fee

A person seeking information is required to submit a Demand Draft / Banker’s Cheque / Indian Postal Order of ₹10/- (Rupees Ten only) in favour of Indian Institute of Management Sambalpur, along with the application.

The prescribed fee may also be paid in cash at the Accounts Office/Officer of the Institute against a proper receipt.

Additional Fees

The applicant may be required to pay additional fees towards the cost of providing information, as prescribed under the Right to Information (Regulation of Fee and Cost) Rules, 2005. Details of the additional fee shall be communicated by the PIO.

The applicable rates include:

  • ₹2/- per page for information provided on A-4 or A-3 size paper.

  • Actual cost or price for copies provided on larger-size paper.

  • Actual cost or price for samples or models.

  • For information provided in printed form, the price fixed for the publication or ₹2/- per page of photocopy, as applicable.


Inspection of Records

As provided under the RTI Act, 2005, a citizen has the right to inspect the records of a public authority.

For inspection of records:

  • No fee shall be charged for the first hour.

  • A fee of ₹5/- for each subsequent hour or part thereof shall be charged.


Applicants Belonging to BPL Category

Applicants belonging to the Below Poverty Line (BPL) category are not required to pay the prescribed application fee.

However, the applicant must submit valid proof of BPL status along with the application.

An application not accompanied by the prescribed ₹10/- fee or valid proof of BPL status, as applicable, shall not be treated as a valid application under the Act. However, there is no bar on the public authority from supplying information in response to such applications.
