Dr. A. Manish Kumar is an assistant professor in the information systems area at IIM Sambalpur. He holds a PhD in Information Systems from IIM Raipur, where his dissertation is in the area of Governance of Social Media Platforms.
His research examines the complex dynamics of platform ecosystems, with a particular emphasis on social media. Dr. Manish’s work investigates the multifaceted impact of these platforms on society, exploring themes such as user behavior and participation, the proliferation of misinformation and fake news, and the psychological effects of cyberbullying and technostress. He is particularly interested in and inclined towards qualitative research methodologies to develop rich, contextual insights into these phenomena. His research aims to inform policies and practices that foster healthier and more accountable digital environments.
Prior to his doctoral studies, Dr. Manish accumulated over four years of teaching experience at institutions like the National Institute of Technology, Raipur, and various engineering colleges. This foundation in technical education is complemented by his academic background, which includes a Bachelor of Engineering in Electronics & Telecommunication and a Master of Technology in VLSI Design.
In the classroom, Dr. Manish leverages his interdisciplinary expertise to teach courses such as E-commerce Business Models, IT & Digital Strategy, Digital Transformation, Spreadsheet Modelling Using Excel, and the Business Implications of Emerging Technologies. His teaching philosophy bridges robust theoretical frameworks with practical, real-world applications, preparing future leaders to navigate and shape the digital economy.
